Trillions of Prisms

Every moment offers a different view. Every atom of air and water comprises of trillions of prisms that bend, refract, twist and reflect light. The prism bends the light in order if its wave length. The shorter wave length is violet and the longer are red. It is hard to believe that in the entirety of nature there are only three primary colors; blue, red and yellow and all other colors are derived from some combination of these colors. Absolute white has no color and absolute black is all colors. The most notable display of prisms at work are sunsets, with each one being wildly different in color, hue, intensity and duration. We are all astronomers when we view a sunset. We�re on this spinning sphere that rotates up to block out the sun with the sky exploding to prismed colors with the promise of darkness. Mere art can only give us a brief sliver of appreciation for the grandeur of our setting star and it prism skies .Even though any painting (and photograph) can only capture a fraction the sunset�s grandeur it is satisfying to interpret it on a large canvas with big paint and brushes with a carefree attitude. There are no wrong depictions of sunsets ether actual or in our imaginations.
